576 students receive degrees on Father Muller graduation day

Mangaluru: As many as 576 students belonging to different streams received degrees during the Graduation Ceremony and Institutions’ Day of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) here on Friday.

Among the 576 graduates, 249 students belonged to Father Muller Medical College, 100 from Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, 172 from Father Muller College of Nursing, 41 students from Father Muller School of Nursing and 14 from Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing.

The decade old institution also celebrated the completion of NAAC accreditation process and grant of top grades to five of their educational institutions.

In his keynote address, Dr. K.S Ravindranath, vice-chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka said that getting into the medical field was a big challenge, due to stiff competition. “  The Medical field requires a lot of commitment and takes a longer time compared to other professions”.

He asked students to develop passion to serve people. “Making money should not be the aim. Excelling in the profession brings name and fame automatically. Do not bother whether the patient has money or not. Your motto should be to serve people. Patients should be your priority. You can get knowledge through books but you cannot get experience”, he told the graduates.

Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Bajunid, deputy vice-chancellor, INTI International University, Malaysia asked the graduates to develop passion, integrity and righteousness. “It’s the beginning of creating an identity and character to further define yourself. Years of education should help you control your thinking. Don’t let others to manipulate your thoughts. Formulate principles appropriate to reality and evolving culture. Be a role model of goodness”, he said.

In his presidential address, Fr. Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general, diocese of Mangaluru and vice president of FMCI asked the graduates to be ambassadors of the institution – which stands for the motto of heal and comfort.

Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, director of FMCI, Dr. JP Alva, Dean of FMMC, Dr. Shivprasad K., principal of Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, Sr. Winnifred D’Souza, principal of Father Muller College of Nursing, Jasmine S. Vas, principal of Father Muller School of Nursing and Akhilesh P.M, principal of Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing were present on the dais.
