Mangaluru: The II Additional District and Sessions Court and POCSO special court has convicted a 49-year-old person in connection with sexual harassment of a four-year-old girl, on Friday, December 14.
The convict is Chandrashekhar alias Rajesh. According to the chargesheet filed at the Konaje police station, the accused Chandrashekhar and victim are neighbours. The four-year-old old victim girl used to go to the accused’s house to watch television. Misusing this situation, the accused harassed the girl sexually on July 23, 2016. The issue came to light when the victim girl complained of pain in her private parts. Shocked over this, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint against Chandrashekhar at Konaje police station. Based on the complaint, then inspector of Konaje police station Ashok registered a complaint under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
When the case came for hearing at II Additional District and Sessions Court and POCSO special court, Judge B R Pallavi upheld the arguments of Special Public Prosecutor C Venkatramana Swamy, found the accused guilty of the crime and convicted him. The quantum of punishment will be declared on Saturday, December 15, sources said.
