Mangaluru: On Sunday August 1, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy presented the honorary awards and book prize of 2020 to the awardees at Kudmul Ranga Rao Townhall.
Speaking at the programme, MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that a 37-cent land has been sanctioned near Urwa for the construction of Konkani Bhavan. “We are expecting to get the RTC for the same within a week. Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned for the construction and the work will be taken up soon,” he said.
Arun Subrav Ubhayakar (literature), Puttur Panduranga Nayak (art) and Lakshmi Krishna Siddi (folk) were conferred the honorary awards while book prizes were awarded to Prem Moras for his collection of poems ‘Ek Moot Pavlyo’, Monica D’Sa’s collection short stories ‘Navi Disha’ and Steevan Quadras’s collection of articles ‘Sugandu Swas’.
Konkani Sahitya Acedamy President Dr. Jagadish Pai, MLC Prathap Simha Nayak, Mayor Premananda Shetty, Tulu Sahitya Academy President Dayanand Kathalsar, Beary Sahitya Academy President Rahim Ucchil, and Konkani film producer Henry D’Silva were also present.
Konkani Academy member Arun G. Shet welcomed the gathering, R Manohar Kamath rendered the vote of thanks and member Canute Jeevan Pinto compered the event.
Only invitees attended the program which was organized following covid guidelines.
