279 new COVID cases reported from DK; Nine dead, 173 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered 279 fresh cases and nine COVID-19 deaths, on Tuesday, August 18.

Of the nine dead, three are from the Mangaluru taluk, one is from Bantwal, and five are from other districts. Comorbidities were found in seven of the nine cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 9,301 while 2,188 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 286.

Only 173 patients were discharged on Tuesday, from various hospitals.

Among the 279 new cases, 163 are from Mangaluru, 49 are from Bantwal, 25 are from Puttur, 10 are from Sullia, 15 are from Belthangady, and 17 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.
