Mangaluru: The Smart City Project’s city-level advisory forum meeting held on Friday, June 5 at the office of the deputy commissioner chaired by Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel approved the development of the main road between Pumpwell and Padil at a cost of Rs 26 crore under the Smart City Project. It may be recalled that the shifting of the City Bus Stand from its current location in Hampankatta to Pumpwell by the side of the National Highway has already been approved, while the DC’s office is already halfway through its construction at the end of the same road.
Nalin Kumar said at the meeting that the tender has already been floated for the construction of an ultra-modern bus station at Pumpwell under the Private Public Participation model. He said it is open till July 27th and the project will be fast-tracked. In turn, he said that the service bus stand near the State Bank Main Branch could also be developed.
Smart City managing director Muhammed Nazeer said, “Gujjarakere will be developed at a cost of four crore rupees, and the one at Kavoor will be developed by spending eight crore rupees. Kadri Park development works at a cost of Rs 12 crore has been undertaken. A sum of Rs 24.94 crore will be used to build an international level swimming pool and the development of community-level facilities. In addition, up-gradation work at a cost of ten crore rupees will be undertaken at Mangala Stadium and Central Market will be developed at a cost of Rs 145 crore. A sum of Rs 114 crore will be spent on developing water supply distribution system implementation in the city,”
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, deputy commissioner of the city corporation Santhosh Kumar, and members of Smart City Advisory Forum were present.
