234 new COVID cases reported from DK; Four dead, 115 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered 234 fresh cases and four COVID-19 deaths, on Wednesday, August 19.

Of the four dead, two are from the Mangaluru taluk and two are from other districts. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 9,535 while 2,303 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 290.

Only 115 patients were discharged on Wednesday. Of these, 95 were quarantined at home and the remaining 20 were being treated in the hospital.

Among the 234 new cases, 148 are from Mangaluru, 29 are from Bantwal, 14 are from Puttur, 13 are from Sullia, and 23 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.

As many as 105 of the new cases are symptomatic (67 men and 38 women) while the remaining 129 are asymptomatic (75 men and 54 women).

Of the 234 cases, 35 persons have contact history, 104 have influenza-like illnesses, 18 are SARI patients, 76 are under investigation, and one has a history of domestic travel.
