21 developmental works to come up in Derebail South Ward: MLA Vedavyas Kamath

Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said that a total of 21 developmental projects, at the cost of Rs 98.43 lakhs, will be undertaken in the Derebail South ward soon.

Kamath, in a press release, informed that the people of the Derebail South ward had been demanding several developmental works in their respective areas. Hence, several such projects have been planned on a priority basis, after accumulating funds under the Chief Minister’s special grant, natural calamity fund, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) general fund and others.

From the flood relief fund, Rs 15 lakhs has been released for the ward and the roads in Thara Apartment’s IInd cross road, Gudde Road and Kottara Ist cross will be repaired. In order to asphalt the road near Ramanjaneya Bhajana Mandir and to repair the culvert near Kapikad, Rs 5 lakhs has been earmarked for each.  

From the Chief Minister’s special grant, a total of Rs 37.13 lakhs has been released for the ward, which will be used for the drainage work at Daddalakadu, Kottara Cross and other surrounding areas. The roads of Kotekani and Daddalakadu will also be developed using the money received from the fund. The remaining work of the Kudmul Rangarao Bhavan will also be completed soon.

A total of Rs 40.3 lakhs has been released from the MCC’s general fund and it will be used to repair the drainage at Kottara and develop the roads in Kapikad, Chilimbigudde and the surrounding areas. A total of Rs 6 lakhs has been kept under MLA’s fund in order to undertake development works near the Guruvaidyanatha Chamundeshwari temple, Chilimbigudde.
