14 candidates to lock horns in Mangaluru LS poll

Mangaluru: A total of 24 nominations were filed by 14 different candidates from the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency, by the end of the last date for filing nomination i.e. Tuesday, March 26.

The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on March 27 at 11 AM. Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his proposers or by his election agent who has been authorised in writing by the candidate to deliver it to returning officer or assistant returning officer at their officer before 3 PM on March 29.

The candidates are Nalin Kumar Kateel (BJP), Mithun Rai (Congress), Ilyas Mohammed Thumbay and Ismail Shafi (SDPI), Sathish Salian (BSP), Supreeth Kumar Poojary (Hindustan Janata Party), Vijay Srinivas C (Uttama Prajakiya Party) and independent candidates Mohammed Khalid, Abdul Hameed, Dr. Deepak Rajesh, Suresh Poojary, H Maxim Pinto, Venkatesh Bende and Dominick Alexander D’Souza.
