Srirangapatna: Sandalwood actor Yash campaigned for the Mandya Lok Sabha independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh, here on Wednesday, April 3.
After offering puja to Lord Sri Ranganathaswamy at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, he began campaigning.
Addressing the road show, he said, “Sumalatha is actor/politican Late M H Ambareesh’s wife. In our tradition, once a woman gets married, from then on she becomes a member of husband’s family. Whoever is criticising or taunting her in the name of caste and region is exposing their own character.”
“Political leaders who are using abusive language against Sumalatha will be answered by the women in the election. I request all the women to join hands with Sumalatha and teach them a lesson”, he added.
Yash said, “Sumalatha is ready to serve the women of Mandya and wipe their tears. For that reason, you must support her. I am confident that she will emerge victorious inspite of criticisms, confusions, misuse of power and verbal abuses by the oppositions.”
He requested everyone to vote for Sumalatha with serial number as 20 in the EVM machines, with her symbol of farmer blowing the trombone.
He requested the same in Ganjam, Baburayanakoppal, T M Hosur and other areas.
Women were seen welcoming Yash traditionally with aarti and hundreds of his fans throwing flower petals and garlands on him from buildings amid slogans for him.
