Mandya: JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday assured of active participation in the Mahadayi water issue, with the same dedication he had shown in the Cauvery river water-sharing issue.

Kumaraswamy demands special Assembly session to discuss Cauvery issue-1Speaking with mediapersons after watching Kannada film ‘Jaguar’, starring his son, Nikhil Kumar, at Gurushri theatre here, Kumaraswamy said, the protests in support of farmers would resume from November 1.

Kumaraswamy said people of the state who have been noticing the attitude of the national parties in addressing several issues during the recent past, are now showing interest towards the regional party, which is a good sign. The government, which has called for an all-party meeting, should drop all the cases filed against the farmers in connection with the Cauvery and Mahadayi issues. The leaders of all the political parties should find a permanent solution to the water issues and earn the trust of the people, he suggested.

Flyover in B’luru

Kumaraswamy took the opportunity to criticise the state government’s recent plan of constructing a flyover worth crores of rupees in Bengaluru. He pointed out that the government had decided to spend crores of rupees for a kilometre stretch, claiming it to be the first of its kind in the country’s history. The Congress-led government was trying to plunder the state, he criticised.

Flaying the “package system” followed by the state, Kumaraswamy alleged that the government was looting money in the name of packages, to utilise the funds for Uttar Pradesh and Punjab elections scheduled to be held soon.
