Mandya: In two separate incidents of sexual assault on minor girls, two persons were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment by the First Additional District and Sessions court on Tuesday.
In the 2014 case of the rape of a nine-year-old girl, the court sentenced Kumar, alias Akshay (21), of Nanda slum in the town to nine years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 25,000.
In another case, the court found Veerappa (21) of Hosakerehalli guilty of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in 2014.
The court awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 25,000, Mandya East police station sources said.
Cases were registered in Mandya East Police Station.
