Mandya: A tense situation is looming over the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, where Nikhil Kumaraswamy has locked horns with Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of former minister late M H Ambareesh. In Doddarasinakere, the birth place of Ambareesh from where Sumalatha cast her vote, police resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse the clashing factions of Sumalatha and Nikhil supporters.
Earlier, Nikhil arrived at the village in an open vehicle to which Sumalatha's supporters objected stating that campaigning is not allowed on the day of voting. This resulted in a war of words between the supporters of both the leaders which later turned into a minor clash. The police were forced to disperse the mob with a mild lathi-charge.
