Bengaluru: Newly elected MP from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency Sumalatha Ambareesh announced that she will organise a victory rally in Mandya city on May 29, the birth anniversary of her late husband M H Ambareesh.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Ambareesh Samadhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium of the city, she stated that she will hold the victory rally and call it “Swabhimani Samavesha”.
All the leaders and activists who supported her in her candidacy for the election will be invited for the rally. “As my victory symbolises the pride of Mandya, we decided to name it the ‘Swabhimani’ rally,” she said.
She also informed that actors Darshan and Yash, who played an important role in her victory, will also be invited to the rally.
Meanwhile, efforts have begun in the Congress circles to bring her back to the party. “The party high command has asked major irrigation minister D K Shivakumar to convince her,” said Congress sources.
