Mandya: The discussions on actor-politician Late Ambareesh’s wife Sumalatha Ambareesh contesting general elections are on a high note in the political fraternity, especially among the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) leaders. Amid this MLC K T Srikante Gowda of JDS has said that Sumalatha should not enter politics as she does not belong to the Mandya ‘Gowda’ community, here on Monday, February 4.
He has said that Late Ambareesh wanted the political regime to end with him and not pass on to his family. Moreover, Sumalatha is not from Mandya but basically from Andhra Pradesh, he added.
“She is not a ‘Gowdati’ of Mandya”, added Srikante Gowda.
He also commented that the fate of actress Ramya, who according to him, was frightened to contest from Ambareesh’s constituency, as the latter knew she would lose the political battle.
Srikante Gowda said this was the reason for her downfall in politics and everyone must learn from her instance that politics was not a silly game to play.
Speaking about the political scenario of Mandya, he said that the Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy had a right to contest from Mandya, as they had worked for this district and that Nikhil had even campaigned in Mandya during the 2018 Assembly elections for JDS.
“Somebody who wants to contest from Mandya sitting elsewhere will not work and the people of Mandya will not support this as they have seen enough of political distress. Even if Sumalatha wins from Mandya Lok Sabha, she will not be here to adhere to the issues of the people. At that point, where shall we go in search of her?”, said Srikante Gowda.
Lastly, he said that the leaders of the coalition government were not happy with the entry of Sumalatha in politics.
