Pandavapura: Scores of monkeys were found dead in Kerethonnur area of Pandavapura and it is believed that some miscreants had poisoned the monkeys. The dead bodies of the monkeys were disposed near Borappa temple.

Over 30 monkeys were found dead and since the local forest officials did not bothered to cremate the monkeys, the locals came together and performed the last rites of the monkeys.

When local residents of the village were passing near the temple, they found several gunny bags filled with some commodities lying on the road side. When the locals opened the bags they discovered the tragic death of monkeys.

The locals had instantly contacted the jurisdictional police and the forest officials. However, when the police arrived at the spot, they said that the case does not come under their purview. To the dismay of the locals, they received lukewarm response from forest staff as well .

With this the locals pooled money together and performed the last rites of the monkeys near the temple.

The locals now demand justice to the case as the mystery behind the hands that killed the monkey still remains unsolved.
