Mandya: In a big shocker to the ruling JD(S)-Congress coalition, the Congress party activists have decided to press NOTA in the Mandya Lok Sabha by-election to be held on November 3. Meanwhile, the Rajya Raitha Sangha has decided to remain neutral.

Congress activists from Maddur, Srirangapatna and Nagamangala have already communicated to the KPCC leadership that they are going to press NOTA as they can’t vote for the JD(S) candidate.

As a last-ditch effort to convince the Congress activists, JD(S) supremo and former PM, HD Deve Gowda will be visiting Nagamangala on Thursday evening; a few hours before the conclusion of the public meeting for the by-election voting.

Badagalapura Nagendra, general secretary of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha informed that his activists will cast the vote according to their discretion and that the Raitha Sangha is not supporting any candidate.

Meanwhile, the BJP Vokkaliga leaders, led by former DCM R Ashok are trying to woo the Raitha Sangha and Congress activists. “Party doesn’t want a victory. But votes above 2 lakh in the Mandya by-election will change the political narrative in South Karnataka,” said a party leader.
