Mandya: Deputy Commissioner N Manjushree has been transferred, here on Tuesday, April 9, by the state government on the directions of the Election Commission.

IAS Officer Dr. P C Jaffer is appointed as the new Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner.

The Election Commission had received several complaints on Manjushree stating that she was working in favour of the Congress and Janata Dal (S) Mandya Lok Sabha coalition candidate and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

Mandya Lok Sabha independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh’s supporters too had alleged that Manjushree had not scrutinised his nominations.

Amid this, Sumalatha too had alleged that Manjushree was not following the procedures and code of conduct of the Election Commission and was helping in Nikhil’s victory. She had demanded for a change in deputy commissioner.

Following the complaint, the Regional Commissioner of Mysuru Division had investigated the matter, after which a decision was taken by the Election Commission.
