Mandya: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has suspended seven party leaders from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency for violating the party’s directions and joining the campaign of independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh.
The suspended leaders include H Appaji (Mandya rural district president), A S Rajeev (Bharatinagar block president), Puttaramu (Malavallia block president), K G Devaraj (Malavallia taluk unit president), M Prasanna (Nagamangala block president), K R Ravindra (K R Pet block president) and S B Prakash (Melukote block president). The suspension orders were given by KPCC general secretary V Y Ghorpade.
The suspension order comes after the Mandya Congress leaders decided not to back the JDS-Congress alliance candidate and son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
