Malavalli: “To put an end to corruption in the country, join hands with the state coalition government by the Congress and Janata Dal (S) for a better and firm government. Help the coalition candidate from Mandya Nikhil Kumaraswamy win the Lok Sabha elections to make him a parliamentarian along with 20 other coalition candidates from the state”, said former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda, here on Tuesday, April 16.

Campaigning in Talagavadi, Hadli and Halaguru for Nikhil, he said, “I have not come here for campaigning because Nikhil is my grandson but he is contesting as a Mandya Lok Sabha candidate on the demand by eight MLAs.”

“He is your son. JDS and Congress aims at providing a secured government at the Centre by erasing corruption, for which you all need to join hands and help us win atleast 20 of our coalition candidates. It is mine and former chief minister Siddramaiah’s wish”, he added.

Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said, “PM Modi has sidelined BJP’s veteran leader L K Advani. He is not following the principles of ideal politics but is creating communal disharmony, not protecting the women and not providing subsidy to farmers. His government is filled with corruption.”

“Because of demonetisation, people have faced a lot of issues. What happened to the promises of bringing back the black money from foreign countries?”, he added.

Lauding his very own regime when he was the prime minister, he said, “Even though I was the prime minister for a couple of months I had implemented pro-people policies and schemes. I had visited states that were in serious problems including Kashmir. I have fought against the issues.”

“I have fought for the rights of the farmers in the parliament, even though I had lost. Keeping the secular policies in mind, we have given women opportunities in Gram, Taluk and Zilla panchayats and also highest positions.”

JDS State President A H Vishwanath, leaders Dr. K Annadani, B M Farooq, Marithibbe Gowda and others had accompanied him.
