ITI lecturer beats up students for not completing notes

Nagamangala: In a shocking incident, a lecturer brutally whipped his students with a plastic rope just for the reason that they had failed to complete their notes and records. The incident which took place at the Navodaya ITI  College here has come to light quite late.

It is learnt, as there would be a checking at the College on December 19, Thursday, the lecturer had asked all the students two days in advance to keep their records and notes upto date. On December 18, Wednesday, the accused lecturer Nagesh who came to the class in the morning asked all students to produce their notes and records to him. But when the students said they have not completed the notes, the furious teacher reportedly hit over 20 of them with plastic ropes.

Students namely PV Yogish, NG Umashanker, NT Nagaraju, MR Mahadeva and CB Bharath have suffered blood clot on  their back while they have also sustained injuries on their hands and shoulders. The lecturer is also learnt to have threatened the students that he will cut their practical marks if they divulged the matter before anyone.

The incident came to light when some of the students brought the matter to the notice of ABVP. The college principal Lingaraju who reacted to the incident, has strongly condemned the harsh punishment and said the erring lecturer will be suspended.
