Mandya: Sandalwood actor Darshan began his second day campaigning for independent candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, Sumalatha Ambareesh, here on Tuesday, April 2.
As Darshan entered the Beedi Workers Colony, he was greeted by the Muslim community with a taqiyah (rounded skullcap) and garland. There were instances of people receiving him with kisses.
‘Nenapirali’ fame actor Prem also accompanied Darshan in the rally.
Reacting to the comments made by Janata Dal (S) MP Shivarame Gowda on Darshan, stating that he was from a ‘Naidu’ community, he said, “I am a Muslim, a Christian, a Hindu and above all I am an ape. Now what?”
Darshan also countered the Mysuru District In-charge Minister G T Devegowda’s statement that when Darshan had canvassed for former chief minister Siddaramaiah in Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency during the 2018 Assembly election where he could not even earn 100 votes. He sarcastically said, “Not 100 sir, let it be 50.”
