Mandya: Following the death of veteran Kannada actor and former minister M H Ambareesh, there has been a lot of confusion and chaos surrounding his last rites.

Though it was earlier said that the mortal remains will be cremated at Kanteerava Studio in Bengaluru, the people of Mandya had demanded that the mortal remains be brought to Mandya, Ambareesh’s home district, so that they too can pay their last respects to the man who was called “Mandyada Gandu”.

Chief minister Kumaraswamy, speaking about the same, said that keeping in mind the emotions of the people, all efforts will be made to fulfil the demands and soon spoke to minister for defence Nirmala Sitharaman to provide a chopper to fly the rebel star’s mortal remains.

With the minister responding positively, it is now said that the body of Ambarish will be flown to Mandya at 4 PM today.

“While taking the mortal remains to Mandya by road is not possible, there are possibilities only if the body can be airlifted. In that case, the body will be kept at Mandya grounds till Monday morning,” the CM had said earlier this morning.

He then thanked Union minister Sitharaman for greenlighting the airlifting of the mortal remains.

Meanwhile, in consultation with the family, the chief minister has directed the officials concerned to make arrangements for the public and fans to pay their last respects to Ambareesh at Kanteerva Stadium opposite Cubbon Park in the city centre from 8 AM onwards.

The Rebel Star’s last rights will be held on Monday, November 26, in Bengaluru at the Kanteerava Studio, the CM informed. It will be done with full state honours next to the Dr Raj Kumar memorial. He also stated that the state government would construct a memorial for the deceased actor/politician.
