Mandya: In a rather bizarre theft tale, a gang that stole away the entire ATM machine from a kiosk at Belur in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district during early hours of Sunday, abandoned the ATM and a Sports Utility Vehicle at a short distant from the kiosk and fled the scene.
According to the Belur police, the gang of at least three targeted the ATM of State Bank of India at Belur Cross on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway 75.
After the gang successfully removed the machine from the platform and loaded it into their vehicle, they abruptly abandoned the machine and the vehicle.
The same ATM machine was targeted on May 5, 2015. Some miscreants had damaged it using weapons to loot the cash.
This case is yet to be solved, according to the Belur police who have instructed the bank to post security guards at the kiosk.
Forensic experts collected fingerprints and other clues from the place.
The Belur police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
