Mandya: The Mandya district administration postponed the historical Vairamudi utsav of Melukote temple owing to the COVID-19 scare.
It is for the first time that the Utsav has been ever cancelled.
As per the calendar of events published by the temple, this festival was scheduled on April 4.
According to the district administration this decision to cancel the celebration was taken as per the lockdown order of the state government.
It is for the first time, this festival is cancelled in this temple which has the history of thousands of years.
Meanwhile, the locals installed a gate near Melukote temple to stop the entry of outsiders as it is one of the well-known tourist destinations of the state.
