Eight killed, more than twenty injured in Mandya road mishap

Mandya: Eight people, including one woman were killed and more than 20 people were injured on the outskirts of Mandya on Tuesday, October 2.

As per the sources, a lorry was plying from K M Doddi towards Mandya loaded with tender coconut ran over people standing near a bus stop, killing eight people including, Ambareesh Fan Club Working President Rafiq, another person named Vinay and one woman on the spot. More than 20 people have been severely injured.

The lorry driver is identified as Nadeem. It is said that the driver lost control over the vehicle as he was drunk. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle and tried to escape but he was caught by the people present at the spot where the accident had taken place, said sources.

On receiving the information DySP Gangadharaswamy immediately rushed to the spot. The injured were rushed to the hospital and eight dead bodies were sent for postmortem.
