Mandya: Dr M V Venkatesh took charge as the new Deputy Commissioner in place of N Manjushree, here on Wednesday, August 7.
The outgoing deputy commissioner N Manjushree who has been transferred, welcomed Dr Venkatesh with a bouquet.
Speaking to the media, he said, “I’ll put my sincere effort towards solving issues related to farmers as this district is agriculture-based. I will speak with the farmers and understand their problems in order to avoid farmers suicide. I will give importance towards implementing basic facilities such as drinking water, fodder for cattles and other facilities in the seven town of the district. Will be also making a sincere effort in resolving issues related to the revenue department as well very soon.”
“The district administration will extend complete support to the police department with regard to maintaining law and order. We’ll be in the forefront when it comes to protection of women and children and will also try and implement every schemes of the Central government in the villages as well”, he added.
He also said that the illegal mining and people involved in it would not be spared. He would try and restrict crime rates with the help of the police department.
Earlier, Dr Venkatesh had served as the director of the horticulture department.
