Mandya: The Mandya election campaign is turning uglier day by day. After a war of words between the JDS leaders and Sumalatha’s supporters on Monday, April 1 late evening, “Challenging Star” Darshan’s campaign was disrupted at Kokkarehundi village in the Srirangapatna taluk.
According to sources, a group of JDS activists stopped Darshan’s vehicle and shouted slogans against him and Sumalatha. However, the police, who were accompanying Darshan, dispersed the mob.
Following the incident, police security has been tightened in the villages where Darshan is scheduled to campaign on Tuesday.
The Mandya Lok Sabha constituency will be the battleground for independent candidate Sumalatha, wife of late former minister M H Ambareesh, and Congress-JDS alliance candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and MLA Anita Kumaraswamy.
