Mandya: Janata Dal (Secular) MLA from Malavalli Dr K Annadani has alleged that the BJP government put a break in the transfer of funds that were sanctioned during H D Kumaraswamy’s tenure as Chief Minister for the Malavalli taluk.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, January 7, he said, “Former CM HDK had released Rs 1300 crores for the Malavalli taluk. But the current BJP government has allowed only Rs 300 – 400 crores and has withheld the rest of the amount. Funds for drip irrigation (Rs 200 crores), mega water irrigation project (Rs 20 crores), rural development (Rs 10 crores) have been withheld. When we asked state rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa why an amount of Rs 10 crores for rural development was blocked, he sanctioned a sum of Rs 3 crores and did not give any clarification as to when the rest of the amount will be sanctioned.”
Accusing the officials of impropriety, Dr Annadani said, “The water irrigation department officials are deliberately not drafting a report on the project. They are doing this because I belong to the Opposition party. Even though I am a legislator, I have to force the officials to work, but there is no positive response from them. Vishweshwaraya Canal, advancement of connecting canals, development of the bypass canal at Hebbakavadi, development of state highways and many other projects are underway. Full-fledged reports related to some of the projects are in the process of being completed. Some of the tenders are also under in the processing stage. The developmental works are being implemented in phases, based on how much funds are released.”
