Mandya: Six police officials have been suspended on charges of their alleged links with the sand mining mafia here in Mandya on May 7.
The suspended policemen are assistant sub-inspector Nagesh, and constables Shyam, Lakshmeesha, Bommanna, Krishna and Madhu who are attached to KRS station.
All the officials had reportedly accepted bribes in the district police headquarters, from the sand extraction and transportation mafia.
Following complaints, the revenue officials had conducted raid and seized sand-laden trucks. Two persons Shridhar and Dinesh were taken into custody for questioning.
According to sources, during the preliminary investigation, it was found that policemen were involved with the mafia. Their links were confirmed on verification of their mobile phone call records.
