Mandya: As Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of actor/politician Late Ambareesh, filed her nomination today in Mandya, as an independent candidate for Lok Sabha, the countdown for the electoral battle has begun between her and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’ son Nikhil Kumaraswamy. Amid this, Sandalwood actors Yash and Darshan who are supporting Sumalatha have received a threat message from Janata Dal (S) MLA Narayana Gowda, here on Wednesday, March 20.

Addressing a public gathering at the Silver Jubilee Park, Yash said that this morning when Sumalatha was getting ready to file the nomination, she had warned him and Darshan the consequences of supporting Sumalatha.

He said, “With tears in her eyes, Sumalatha told me that I would have to face yet another Income Tax raid for supporting her. This threat was given by a JDS MLA.”

“According to some, we are committing a blunder by supporting Sumalatha but we don’t think so. If it is truly a blunder, then we are happy to continue the same till our last breath”, he added.

Yash boosted Sumalatha’s confidence on stage by publicly announcing that he would stand by her and her family for life and support them in every way possible.

Meanwhile, Yash taunted Narayana Gowda saying, “We have not come from Pakistan. Because we are from the film industry, he is talking ill about us. I have a strong connection with Mandya as I have drunk the water from its canals and have swum in lakes and ponds, eaten jaggery, which the district is known for. I owe it to this land.”

Earlier, Narayan Gowda had questioned the Sandalwood industry and its contribution towards Mandya, indirectly hitting at Yash and Darshan.

He had warned, “It is better that you mind your own business or else we know how to tackle you as currently we have our government (Congress-JDS coalition) in the state. We have no issues conducting another I-T raid.”
