Madikeri: Two daily wager workers were smothered to death after a part of a hillock came sliding down on them, in Madikeri on Tuesday evening. However, another worker was rescued successfully by fire personnel, locals and the police.
The workers were engaged in the construction of a building near Raja Seat. It is said that machines were excavating land to lay drain when a hillock near the site came down smothering Yashodha (20) from Chikkamagaluru and Gauramma (40) from Beluru to death. One more lady who was stuck under the debris was rescued successfully.
