Gonikoppalu: Gonikoppa police have arrested three persons on the charges of looting a person after intercepting his vehicle during night time.
Those arrested are Vinaykumar of Bangalore, B Kavan Kumar and K Jeevith of Kodagu. Cash and valuables looted by the trio have been recovered. Of the three accused V0inay Kumar was a flower merchant.
It is learnt, Vinaykumar had borrowed a Santro Car from his friend Ilan Cherian of Bangalore for a wedding ceremony for two days and had taken the vehicle to Mysore. However, when Vinay did not turn up even after weeks together, Cherian telephoned him with a request to return the car. However, Vinaykumar asked Cherian to come to Mysore to get the car.
Accordingly, Cherian along with his friend Narasimha left for Gonikoppa on December 29 and reached the place at around 11 pm. It is said Vinaykumar along with his associates waylaid the car on Palibetta Road and robbed a gold chain weighing 24 grams from Cherian, a golden ring, and also got him encash Rs 11400 from a local ATM. Cherian had lodged a complaint in this regard at Gonikoppa police station.
The police who were on the lookout for the accused trapped them in Bangalore on December 30. They have been produced before the Ponnampete Court and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
