Madikeri: Thousands of devotees witnessed the annual Cauvery Theerthodbava at Talacauvery in the wee hours of Friday, October 18.
Although the ‘muhurtham’ was at 12.59 am, the Tirthodhbava occurred at 12.57 am.
The Tirthodhbava rituals began at 10 pm on Thursday, October 17, by a team of priests led by Ananta Krishnachar. State Revenue Minister R Ashok, district in-charge minister V Somanna and others were present on the occasion.
Devotees from across the state (especially Kodavas) were present to collect the holy water. Many dipped themselves in the holy pond and special arrangements were made for the celebrations.
