Madikeri: Suspected Naxal leader Roopesh was produced before the Madikeri District Court on Wednesday, April 10.
Roopesh who was kept in Madikeri District Jail on Tuesday night was escorted to the court by heavily armed Kerala Anti-Terrorism Squad unit, Kerala Police and Kodagu Police Commandos. Roopesh shouted the slogan ‘Naxal Zindabad’ while entering the court and also while coming out of the court. The judge has adjourned the case to April 27.
Roopesh is an accused in 38 cases of naxal activities in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Excluding those cases, two more cases are also filed against him in Madikeri Rural Police Station. This is the fifth time that Roopesh has been produced before the Madikeri court for inquiry into the 2 cases filed against him in Madikeri rural police station. After the court inquiry, he was taken back to Kerala prison.
Barricades were erected and tight police security was deployed by Town Police Inspector Shanmuga within the court premises.
