Madikeri: Save Kodagu Andholana Vedike will organise a rally in Gonikoppa on February 25 to unmask the fake environmentalists in the region, who have been causing hindrance to the growth of the district.

Speaking to reporters, Madhu Bopanna, the Vedike leader has clarified that the protest is not going to be an event with a hidden political agenda.

“Each and every citizen has the freedom to fight for his rights in a democratic set up. There are a few organizations which have been pressing for the arrest of Vedike members. We want to see Kodagu developing and prospering so that the future generation can have better opportunities. We are not criminals involved in multi-crore scams that people give a call to arrest our members. We are fighting for better right,” he said adding that CPIM Secretary Guruprasad, who has criticized the organization has given fake environmentalists a new weapon to fight the Vedike.

He opined that the organization respects Guruprasad and his ideologies, but he clarified that it is not possible for the Vedike to hold protests within the communist framework.

“Communism is fading away and it is more confined only to newspapers and press statements,” he said adding that including elected representatives in the protest is inevitable because they are the ones who will take our aspirations to the power corridors.

“Tagging us as political organizations just because we have invited a few political leaders is incorrect,” he said adding burning issues like ‘Baane’ land issue, sand mining etc have been threatening the region due to the malicious intention of the fake environmentalists.

BT Dinesh said that well-planned strategies are now being put to work to ensure five crore people of the state stand against five lakh people of Kodagu.

The protest rally will start from AMC Bus stand at 10.30 AM and a public rally will be held later.
