Madikeri: District in-charge minister of Kodagu, Sa Ra Mahesh, visited the home of the student who was raped and murdered by immigrant laborers from a north-eastern state, and expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family.

Sa Ra Mahesh said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Kumaraswamy, the government will provide a house to the victim’s family, and it will be compensated soon.

“The government will undertake measures to construct houses for the landless families working in estates and plantations,” said Mahesh.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA KG Bopaiah said, “There are four acres of land, which belongs to the government near ‘Gattada Halla’, and the land should be provided to the landless”. “The land can be used to construct houses for the homeless,” he suggested.

“A decision was taken in regard to collecting personal informations of labourers migrating into the district from far eastern states, in a meeting preside over by the district incharge minister. This should be systematically implemented,” added Bopaiah.

Deputy Commissioner Anees Kanmani Joy, Sub division Officer T Javaregowda, DYSP Sundaraj, Nagappa, Anoop Madappa, Tahsildar Govinda Raju and others were present.
