Madikeri: With continued complaints from parents that the rice served under mid-day meals at Chettalli High School seem infested with rice moths and worms, Zilla Panchayat member M B Sunitha Manjunath and Taluk Panchayat Member Pallaranda Mani Uthappa inspected the ration stocked up at the school.
During the inspection, the duo found that the allegations leveled by the parents of the school children were true.
However, answering the queries of Sunitha Manjunath and Uthappa, school Principal said that they were supplied with spoiled rice last month and since they did not have any option left, they washed the rice and then sun-dried the stock before cooking the rice for the children.
Sunitha Manjunatha, while stating that such complaints have been pouring in from various parts of the district, directed the DDPI to make sure that the spoilt rice was taken back and good quality rice was supplied to the particular school.
