Madikeri: “Girls and women must take extra care about their health and must also give importance and preference to the eco-friendly health care system”, suggested Dr. Jayalakshmi Patkar.
Dr. Jayalakshmi Patkar spoke about this after inaugurating the Sanitary Napkin Dispenser and Destroyer machine provided by the Bengaluru and Kodagu Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan jointly to the Women’s Hostel of Field Marshal K M Cariappa College, here on Tuesday, October 16.
She said, “Women should give importance and concentrate on keeping oneself clean and tidy on a daily basis. Also, they must consult a doctor and find solutions to their problems.”
She also stressed on cleanliness during the menstrual cycle.
She said, “Menstrual cycle is a part of women’s biological growth. Hence, they must try and keep themselves tidy and also their surroundings. For this, the napkin destroyer machine comes in handy and helps maintain cleanliness of the surroundings.”
President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan K S Devaiah said, “The main intention behind providing this machine is to cater to the needs of the students.”
Speaking on the occasion, Treasurer Dr. Manohar Patkar said, “There were times when people were reluctant or shy to discuss such matters openly. The rest and relaxation that is needed for women during their menstrual cycle is not observed in the current days. There are high chances of a negative impact on women’s health due to this trend. Precautions must be taken.”
Principal of Field Marshal K M Cariappa College Dr. Parvathy Appaiah presided over the programme.
She said, “We are thankful to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, which has provided this machine that is a need of the hour.”
The programme was compered by Field Marshal K M Cariappa College Women’s Hostel Warden Dr. Nayana Kashyap.
Secretaries of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Balaji Kashyap and Manu Devaiah were present.
