Madikeri: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all his Member of Parliaments take oath in the 17th Lok Sabha session, it was also a spectacle to watch some of the MPs come in their regional traditional outfits. One among them was the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Mysuru and Madikeri Lok Sabha constituency Pratap Simha.
Pratap Simha had entered the parliament hall in Kodava attire known as ‘Kupya’ (collarless, short-sleeved coat), ‘Chele’ (waistband) and ‘Peechekathi’ (traditional decorative knife, known to be the pride of a Kodava).
Speaking to media, Simha said, “People have helped me emerge victorious with a great margin and their expectations will not be let down.”
On the other hand, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya had worn the traditional Mysuru silk dothi and silk embroidered shawl.
