Madikeri: In order to inspect the progress in the housing work for the flood victims of the district, the Bharatiya Janata Party MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary visited Madapura, Karnangeri and other areas here on Wednesday, January 30.
He later held a meeting with the officials concerned in the Deputy Commissioner’s office with regard to the flood-affected issues.
Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya gave the details about the house construction in areas such as Madapura, Karnangeri, Sampaje, Made and other places.
Engineer of Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Limited, Srinivas said that the construction of houses in Karnangeri and Made will be completed by February and April respectively. Houses in Madapura will be completed by June.
Srinivas Poojary stressed on completing the construction as soon as possible citing delay in work.
Addressing the media, he said, “In order to provide housing facility, the state and the Centre have released necessary funds and they must be utilised in the right way.”
“The central government has released an amount of Rs 546 Crore towards the construction of houses and roads, which must be channelised in a right away”, he added.
MLA Appachu Ranjan, MLCs Sunil Subramani, Tejaswini Ramesh, President of Zilla Panchayat B A Harish and others were present.
