Madikeri boy who drew Defence minister\'s attention during Kodagu floods dies-1Madikeri: The eight-year-old boy who grabbed the attention of Minister for Defence, Nirmala Sitharaman during the Kodagu floods is no more.

It is said that the boy was playing on the terrace of his house with a shawl which was tied to the covered ceiling of the terrace like a swing. The boy is said to have accidentally got strangled by the dupatta. When the boy's father returned home, he found his son's numb body. Though he was rushed to the Madikeri district hospital, he was declared dead.
Scores of people arrived at the mortuary when news of the boy's death spread.

The floods that devastated Kodagu brought to light the talent of the young boy. He was living with his family at a gruel centre and when the Defence Minister visited the centre, the boy had shown some of his drawings to the minister, which eloquently portrayed how the lives of the people were jeopardized by the catastrophe.
