Madikeri: The dawn to dusk bundh call given by various organisations in Kushalanagar has received good response. The normal life is disrupted and schools and colleges are shut down in the town owing to the bundh that intends to pressurise the state government to form a separate Cauvery taluk with Kushalanagar as the taluk head quarters. As the name of the new taluk is not featured in the list of four new taluks proposed by the CM HD Kumaraswamy in his budget speech of February 8, various organisations have called for the bandh.
Autos, bus and other vehicle movement are stopped across the town in support of the bundh. The Mangaluru- Bengaluru bus service is not affected by the same. All the emergency services are on.
It can be recalled that since last two years Kushalanagar residents are holding a series of protests demanding separate Cauvery taluk.
