Madikeri: In a big shocker to the Kodagu district administration on Monday morning 10 more persons tested positive. What is adding to the administration’s worries is that out of 10, 9 are suffering from Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) which clearly shows it is community transmission.
36-year-old male, a case of ILI from Neergunda, Kodlipet, Somwarpet Taluk, a 41-year female, a case of ILI from Karekoppa, Somwarpet taluk, 25 years female, a case of ILI from Kakkehole, Somwarpet taluk, a 25 years male, a case of ILI from Gopalpura, Shanivarsanthe, Somwarpet taluk, 62 years male, a case of ILI from Cherala Srimangala, Chettalli, Somwarpet taluk, 59 years male, a case of ILI from Yemmegundi road, Suntikoppa, Somwarpet taluk, a 28-year-old male, a case of ILI from Gaddige, Madikeri, a 25-year-old male, a case of ILI from Bychanahalli, Kushalnagar, Somwarpet taluk and a 56-year-old female, a case of ILI from Konemaramma temple, Kushalnagar, Somwarpet taluk have tested positive. The tenth positive is a 24-year-old male history of travel from Bangalore native of Gopalpura, Shanivarsanthe, Somwarpet taluk. None of these patients has had any contact with any other COVID19 Positive person.
According to the authorities after these positive results, 9 more containment zones opened at Neergund Kodlipet Somwarpet, Karekoppa Somwarpet, Kakkehole Somwarpet, Gopalpura Shanivarsanthe Somwarpet, Cherala Srimangala Chettalli Somwarpet, Yemmegundi road Suntikoppa, Gaddige Madikeri, Bychanahalli Kushalnagar and Konemaramma temple Kushalnagar.
According to the authorities, the total number of positive cases in the district now is 179. Among them, 68 have been cured and discharged. The total active cases are 108.
Till now the district has registered three deaths.
