Kodagu SP issues strict instructions ahead New Year’s eve

Madikeri: Kodagu Superintendent of Police Rajendra Kumar has issued guidelines to be adhered during the eve of the New Year celebrations, including prohibition on serving liquor in home stays.
He said that security has been stepped up in the district, which is one of the major tourist destinations during the new year.

All vehicles entering into the district or passing through will be inspected at the check posts. He said that violators will be dealt with accordingly. On December 31, the hotels, pubs, restaurants and clubs shall serve the liquor within the given timeframe. The organizers should end the new year celebrations by 12:30 am.

The SP also mentioned that the home stays should not serve liquor.The hotels, pubs, restaurants, clubs should obtain permission from the SP’s office to hold parties. This apart, he said that Supreme Court guidelines must be followed while using loudspeakers. Drunken driving, playing loud music in cars while driving, rash driving and various such offences will be taken seriously.

Harassing passers by in ways of forcefully greeting them for new year and the likes should be avoided. Bursting of crackers to the annoyance of the general publi, consuming liquor in public places and in the vehicles too have been prohibited.
