Madikeri: The Kodagu Pragatipara Janaandolana Vedike held a hunger strike condemning the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) at the Gandhi Mantap on Wednesday, January 29. They were joined by the Kodagu district SSF committee.

SSF district president Abdul Aziz said, “The SSF condemns any law or policy that is framed against the core values of the Indian Constitution, and will stand with those who protest against it. The government could not resolve the issue of unemployment, inflation etc. and is now trying to hide its mistakes by implementing some policies which are dividing society. Real Indians have woken up against those who are trying to oppose the democratic setup of the country.”

SSF state secretary Yakub Master said, “The CAA and NRC are against the core values of the country. Every citizen of this country must stand against it.”

Speaking on the occasion, SSF district vice president said, “The Vedike has done a commendable job as they have been protesting against the Centre’s policies by organizing a hunger strike. I would like to give a call to all the citizens of this country to stand united against the anti-democratic policies.”

Meanwhile, former MLAs M C Nanaiah, K M Ibrahim, literarian and thinker Balasubramanya Kanjarpani and others were present.
