Madikeri: Monsoon rain began in Kodagu on Monday, June 10 with dark clouds and fog in the environment since morning and drizzling throughout the day as per the met department’s forecast.
Monsoon rains hit Kerala coast on June 6 which has spread to the areas of Karnataka state. Dark clouds and drizzling have put an end to the scorching heat of the sun and made the environment cool.
Due to low air pressure, monsoon waves have begun this weekend, resulting in drizzling rain. Good rains are expected in the coming days.
The people and school children walking with umbrellas and rain coats are adding to the monsoon feel.
In Kodagu, with June month’s rain, agricultural activities like paddy cultivation and adding manure to coffee plantations begin.
Though the people were eagerly awaiting the rain this year, the memory of last year’s natural calamities had not left them. People were praying that this year’s rainy season would be a normal one without any eventualities.
Even the environmentalists have wished that the River Cauvery fill her belly with enough water and let the rainy season be a people friendly one.
