Madikeri: The Kodagu district is experiencing a chaotic situation following the death of a man in an elephant attack.

On Friday morning, a Kaymani resident identified as Chokira Sudha was trampled to death by an elephant. As news of this spread, hundreds of coffee growers and farmers launched a flash protest across the district.

Kutta was the epic center of the protest and the agitators didn’t allow police to take away the dead body, staging a protest by blocking the road.

The agitators are demanding a compensation of Rs 1 crores and a permanent solution for the elephant menace across the district.

Protests are reported from Srimangala, Virajpet and Suntikoppa as well.

Senior forest department officers from Mysuru have rushed to Madikeri to discuss the prevailing scenario.
