Madikeri: The JD(S) party members have alleged that Madikeri Dasara, which should have been a people’s festival has unfortunately become a stage for political pride and slug-fest.

Coming down heavily on the judgement of the jury over Dashamantapa, JD(S) District Spokesperson P S Bharath said that this year’s Madikeri Dasara lacked vision and farsightedness and that the show was hijacked by politics, groupism, favouritism and many such negative aspects.

“There is confusion and contempt over selection of winners of the Dashamantapa and many are of the opinion that the judges were not qualified to take the responsibility. The judges were appointed on the basis of political recommendations,” he said adding that the improper selection and announcement of winners has bogged down and demotivated the hands that worked for the Dashamantapas.

He said that though renowned artists of state-level repute were ready to take the responsibility as the judges, the Dasara Committee and the Dashamantapa Committee did not pay heed and went ahead to appoint people with recommendations as judges.

“It is unfortunate that due to these issues, there is a sense of animosity brewing between the Dashamantapa makers,” he lamented adding that politics must be kept away from Dasara.

JD(S) leaders were present.
