Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti mathu Sahitya Academy organizes ‘Kiddaasa’ Festival

Madikeri: ‘Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti mathu Sahitya Academy’ in association with Galibeedu Friends Youth Association organized ‘Kiddaasa’ Festival.

A traditional procession was held on occassion of ‘Kiddaasa’ which added more attraction to the festival. Men and women performed traditional dance during the ceremony. Women contested in ‘Rangoli’ competition, drawing beautiful ‘rangolies’ all over the place which made the surroundings look colorful and elegant.

Several games and sports activities were also conducted for elders as well as children.

Retd. DySP Yaladalu D. Keshavananda inaugurated the ceremony. Speaking on the occassion, Keshavananda said “Everybody’s cooperation is needed to vitalize ‘Arebaashe’. ‘Arebaashe’ news has been started in ‘Aakashvani’, and the academy’s encouragement to the same is really appreciable”.

Chief guest for the occassion, Kombarana G. Bopaiah, Speaker of K’taka Legislative Assembly, said “There should be compatibility among different languages. Mother tongue should be revered, at the same time other languages should also be respected”.
“Various progressive programmes have been undertaken after the establishment of ‘Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti Mathu Sahitya Academy’. Along with the language, culture, art and traditions should also be vitalized,” added Bopaiah.

PC Jayaram, President, ‘Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti mathu Sahitya Academy’, presided over the function. “The programme has been organized with the cooperation of all the people from the community as well as academy members. We look forward to organize such programmes in every village in future,” said Jayaram.

Sanjeeva Kudpaje, Senior Lecturer, Nehru Memorial Pre-University College, Sullia, delivered a lecture on the significance of ‘Kiddaasa’ festival.

Pudhiyathanda Subash Sommaiah, President of Galibeedu Gram Panchayat, Badalera Rani Mutthanna, Vice President, Subash Chandra Alva, Kolumudiyana R Ananthkumar, Vice President of Cardamom Sales Association, Acchapatteera G Kavitha, President of Mahila Samaj, Yaladalu Padmavathi, Zilla Panchayat member, Muddanda Roy Thammaiah, Taluk Panchayat member, Soorthale R Sommanna, President of Kodagu Gowda Samaj Federation, Periyan P Jayananda, President Kodagu Gowda Samaj among many others were present during the festivity.

Cultural programmes were organized for the evening.
