Bengaluru: I B Uttaiah, a resident of the city and a native of Kodagu, has taken charge as the Rear Admiral of the Indian Navy. He is the first person from Kodagu district to be promoted to this post, though four Kodavas did serve the Indian Navy as commodores in the past.
I B Uttaiah was Commodore in the principal director of ship project before being promoted to this position, which is equivalent to Major General in Indian Army.
I B Uttaiah is a native of Iychettira village in Kodagu and is presently serving in New Delhi. His family is staying in Bengaluru.
